CPAC: Tony Snow Wows the Crowd

White House Press Secretary Tony Snow received a standing ovation following his speech to conservatives today at CPAC. The room was packed as Snow follow Senate Majority Mitch McConnell to center stage. His message for conservatives was simple: take off the dark-colored glasses "because we've got a lot of work to do."

Not longer can Republicans, and especially conservatives, pout about November's election results.

"We need to apply our ingenuity to today's issues," Snow said. As conservatives we need to focus on our abilities to compete on the global stage, keep solving social problems with conservative answers, and win the War on Terror.

Although the war came to us, he said, we have to "pull together and finish the job."

The world is watching and waiting, Snow told the crowd, and "when we win...the rest of the world's going to say, 'We want to be like America.'"

In closing he said, "History is tapping us on the shoulder right now" and we as conservatives have to got to step up and make this our finest hour.

Wake up boys... this team we have now is going to drive us over the cliff. Delay was there? Are you kidding me? I thought Cheney was bad enough.

Curious as to how many of the several well known Conservative speakers - aside from McCain - have actually borne arms in combat in defense of their country?

Oh, I'm sorry. McCain wasn't there, I'm told.

I hardly think any of us need a lecture on conservatism from a guy who has demeaned himself by being a hack for the Bush Administration. The best thing for conservatives will be the exit of this crowd in 2008...and they should have the doors locked behind them.

Agree totally with kgregt. Would a truly conservative group be "wowed" by a bucket carrier for Bush the Internationalist. I'm afraid the Republican Party no longer holds any promise for those of us who place the sovereignty of the U.S. above making a buck for the Chamber of Commerce.
