Identify theft is all over the news today, and it looks like illegals aliens are some of the biggest offenders.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents just
made headlines after they raided Swift & Co.'s meat packing plants in six different states, arresting what appears to be hundreds if not thousands of workers.
CNN reports that while having a fake Social Security number is a crime, selling one isn't. Children's Social Security numbers are at high risk for theft because they can be used for years without suspicion. View the video

There are definitely mixed reactions to the ICE raids, but as Michelle Malkin
points out, the mainstream media is only showing one side of the story:
The New York Times, like many other outlets, runs a large photo of arrested workers' families in tears. Not pictured are any of the hundreds of American victims of illegal alien identity theft whose Social Security numbers were stolen to enable the illegal alien workers to work.
UPDATED -- 1:53 p.m.: Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff makes the illegal alien-identity theft connection, too (see: "
Immigration raid linked to ID theft, Chertoff says").
