As much as I love and adore Human Events and my many friends at HE, I have to disagree with them on their fawning over the prospect of Mike Pence becoming minority leader. He'd be a great minority leader, especially since
his personal not-an-amnesty amnesty plan for 20 million illegal aliens will help ensure that the GOP remains a minority party.
Somehow that bit of his career was left out of HE's editorial today claiming that "When the now-defeated Republican majority in the House of Representative was led astray on key issues by President Bush... ...it was Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana who rallied backbenchers to fight back in defense of conservative principles." For many issues, that has been true. But on the issue of amnesty for immigration criminals and the corrupt businesses that employ them, it has been Mike Pence that helped lead the party astray.
Given that the Democrat-led House and Senate and the Bush Whitehouse will support amnesty, electing Mike Pence as Minority leader would remove all hope of preserving the nation's 2006 popular revolt against amnesty.
