Give Gov. Mitt Romney credit for a good week of assiduously courting conservatives. While many of his opponents are either ignoring traditional campaign methods (they are failing to raise money,
build a team, etc.) -- or are
offending conservative voters with their votes and/or comments -- Mitt Romney is going out of his way to do both. He is raising money, putting together a team, and wooing conservatives. This week, he gave a well-received speech at the
Family Research Council. And his interview (posted today) with
Red State is one more example of his willingess to court the conservative base. It's going to be a long race, but it appears that Romney is seeking to occupy an important niche -- to become the most conservative candidate
who could actually win.

The hits keep on coming. According to Hotline's "
On-Call" blog:
The Speaker of the House of Representatives in Iowa, Chris Rants, will join Gov. Mitt Romney's Commonwealth PAC as an advisor. The two will appear together in a nicely-staged news conference at about 12:40 ET, right after Romney finishes a health care event.
