Larry Sabato & The Liberal Media View All of The Ballot Box Posts

Some people think that the latest attack on Sen. George Allen demonstrates a savvy and aggressive media strategy aimed at ousting him from office. But I think the liberals in the media are actually stepping on their own stories. They could have gotten another couple of days out of the story of his handling of the Jewish question. They should have milked it until at least Thursday before moving on. But by dropping the latest allegations that Allen used the "N word," they have, in fact, changed the subject prematurely. Is this evidence that they truly aren't coordinating these attacks? Or did they just forget the sage advice that you should never fire all your ammunition at once? I'm not sure.

On another note, I think it is a career mistake for Larry Sabato to be personally inserting himself in this story. While it is true that he has a unique perspective (having known Allen at the University of Virginia), I can't help but feel that this further diminishes his credibility as an analyst. His critics have long said that Larry would never turn down any opportunity to get in front of a camera (or be quoted by the media). Maybe that explains it? It will be interesting to see if he will be able to continue being viewed as an unbiased analyst ...
