Major League Baseball put on a wonderful tribute to Pittsburgh Pirates great
Roberto Clemente at tonight's All-Star Game. Clemente, someone I grew up idolizing as a Pirates fan, was honored posthumously with MLB's Lifetime Achievement Award.
Bill Mazeroski, a Hall of Fame second baseman, escorted Vera Clemente onto the field, where Commissioner Bud Selig spoke to a cheering crowd about the legacy Clemente left on the game.
Clemente is the subject of a new book by David Maraniss,
Clemente: The Passion and Grace of Baseball's Last Hero. It's an amazing story of his life, but particularly gripping is the story about how he died.
