Rep. Katherine Harris (R.-Fla.) was our third guest and wasted no time getting to the debate over offshore drilling taking place in the House.
I'll leave it to
Pat Cleary at ShopFloor.org to spell out all the details about drilling. Harris told me she would make offshore drilling an issue in her campaign against Sen. Bill Nelson (D.-Fla.). She said Nelson wants to prevent the Florida Legislature from making decisions about drilling off the coastal waters in Florida.
Harris, on the other hand, would like Congress to let Floridians decide what happens off their coast. She said it's unfair that 95% of Congress should set the rules.
When I asked Harris about her campaign against Nelson, she didn't hesitate for one second to say she'd win, citing a recent Zogby poll as proof that she's gaining ground on the liberal Democrat. She had
pretty much the same attitude earlier this month when she met with the editors of HUMAN EVENTS.
Harris said immigration would play an important role in her campaign.
Our borders are an emergency and workforce issues are crucial, but citizenship is neither. We shouldn't even be talking about citizenship.
