College Victor Hugo, a middle school in Noisy-le-Grand, France outside of Paris was set on fire by race rioters during the riots that started on Monday when a 17-year-old Algerian was shot by the police. A library was also set ablaze. Violence has erupted in Amiens, Toulouse, Essone, and other cities.

The events follow the shooting of an Algerian teen, Nael M., during a traffic check after Nael allegedly rammed the police vehicle. The shooting happened around the town of Nanterre.

Elon Musk replied on Twitter to the footage of the library being burned, saying, "Burning down libraries is sacrilege."

Since the shooting on Monday, protests have erupted across several cities with cars and buildings being set ablaze by rioters.

Footage of College Victor Hugo being burned shows masked rioters throwing objects into the burning building.

The rioting did not stop at the school and library. Video from users online shows police stations, cranes, and allegedly a city hall in Bordeaux, France being set ablaze.

A live stream of the events taking place from Times Now said that "2000 riot police [have been] called up in suburbs around [P]aris" to handle the situation.

France President, Emmanuel Macron, called for "calm and justice" in light of the riots taking place in the country. He stated that "we need calm everywhere because we don't want a situation that degenerates."

Macron, when addressing the shooting of Nael, said, "We have an adolescent that was killed, it is unexplainable and inexcusable. Nothing justifies the death of a young man.”

The mayor of Nanterre, the town where Nael was shot, told the Guardian that the rioters "are probably thinking about revenge after the death of Nael.”

"I’m appealing to everyone to stop this destructive spiral, let’s protect our neighborhoods, our shared assets such as buildings that we’ve worked so hard together to build and renovate.”

According to"> Gerald Darmanin, France's Minister of the Interior and Overseas, as of last night, there have been 667 arrests made since the riots started.
