Re-elect Obama: Vote Newt!

To talk with Gingrich supporters is to enter a world where words have no meaning. They denounce Mitt Romney as a candidate being pushed on them by “the Establishment” — with “the Establishment” defined as anyone who supports Romney or doesn’t support Newt.

Gingrich may have spent his entire life in Washington and be so much of an insider that, as Jon Stewart says, “when Washington gets its prostate checked, it tickles [Newt],” but he is deemed the rebellious outsider challenging “the Establishment” — because, again, “the Establishment” is anyone who opposes Newt.

This is the sort of circular reasoning one normally associates with Democrats, people whom small-town pharmacists refer to as “drug seekers” and Ron Paul supporters.

Newtons claim Romney is a “moderate,” and Gingrich the true conservative — a feat that can be accomplished only by refusing to believe anything Romney says … and also refusing to believe anything Gingrich says.

– Romney’s one great “flip-flop” is on abortion. (I thought the reason we argued with people about abortion was to try to get them to “flip-flop” on this issue. Sometimes it works!)

Nearly two decades ago, when Romney was trying to defeat champion desecrator of life Sen. Teddy Kennedy, he sought to remove abortion as a campaign issue by declaring that he, too, supported Roe v. Wade.

(Nonetheless, Kennedy ran a campaign commercial against him featuring a Mormon woman complaining that Romney, as a Mormon elder, had pressured her not to have an abortion, but to give the child up for adoption. Are you getting the idea that Massachusetts is different from the rest of America, readers?)

Romney changed his mind on abortion — not when it was politically advantageous, but when it mattered. As governor of liberal, pro-choice Massachusetts, he vetoed an embryonic stem cell bill and “worked closely” with Massachusetts Citizens for Life. The president of MCL recently issued a statement saying that, “since being elected governor, Mitt Romney has had a consistent commitment to the culture of life.”

He didn’t defend his changed position by saying he was a “historian,” or denounce people who raised the switch as “fundamentally” dishonest asking “absurd” questions, or go back and forth and back and forth. He just said he changed his mind.

Meanwhile, Gingrich, who has run for office only in a small, majority Republican, undoubtedly pro-life congressional district, lobbied President Bush to support embryonic stem cell research.

– Romney is now the only remaining candidate for president who opposes amnesty for illegals. (Ever since President Bush’s amnesty plan cratered on the shoals of public opposition, no Republican will ever use the word “amnesty,” despite wanting to keep illegals here — just as Democrats refuse to say “abortion,” while supporting every manner of destroying human life.)

Romney supports E-Verify and a fence on the border. As governor he promoted English immersion programs for immigrants, signed an agreement with the federal government allowing state troopers to enforce federal immigration laws, and opposed efforts to give illegal immigrants in-state tuition or driver’s licenses.

At the same time, Romney says he’d like to staple a green card to the diploma of every immigrant here on a student visa who gets a higher degree in math or science.

Gingrich supports importing a slave labor force from Mexico under a “guest worker” program and wants to create government “citizen review boards” to grant amnesty on a case-by-case basis (i.e. all at once) to illegal aliens.

– Romney supports entitlement reform along the lines of the Paul Ryan plan, as he has said plainly, but without histrionics, in the debates.

Just last year, Gingrich went on “Meet the Press” and called Ryan’s plan — supported by nearly every House Republican — “right-wing social engineering.”

He apologized for those remarks, then took back his apology, still later doubled down, calling the Ryan plan “suicide,” and now — currently, but it could change any minute — Gingrich supports Ryan’s entitlement reform efforts.

– As for crony capitalism, Romney made all his money in the private sector by his own diligence and talent — even giving away all the money he inherited from his parents. He’s never lived in Washington or traded on access to government officials.

Meanwhile, without the federal government, Gingrich would be penniless. He has been in Washington since the ’70s, first as a congressman, then becoming a rich man on the basis of having been a congressman.

Most egregiously, he took $1.6 million to shill for Freddie Mac, one of the two institutions directly responsible for the housing crash that caused the financial collapse. (Or one of three, if you consider Barney Frank an institution.)

If the tea party stands for anything, it stands in absolute opposition to government insiders shoring up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac at the very time those institutions were blowing up the economy.

– Romney could not be more forceful in saying he will issue a 50-state waiver to Obamacare his first day in office and then seek its formal repeal. Whether you like a state-wide insurance mandate or not, it’s a world of difference when the federal government does it. Conservatives, having read the Constitution, ought to understand this.

It was on account of the difference between state and federal powers that the Supreme Court overturned the federal Violence Against Women Act. The court was not endorsing rape, but reminding us that states make laws about rape, not Congress.

To act as if Obamacare is the same thing as “Romneycare” is just a word game, on the order of acting like a “gun” has the same properties as a “gunny sack,” or “fire” is the same thing as a “firefly.”

Romney supported the idea of other states doing something along the lines of his health care bill, but always opposed insurance mandates from the federal government (just as I oppose the federal government issuing general laws about rape, but support state laws against rape.)

For those of you who still think Romneycare is the worst possible sin a Republican candidate could commit — even worse than taking money from Freddie Mac as it destroyed the economy — that doesn’t help Gingrich: He supported Romneycare.

(While we’re on the subject, the nation’s leading conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, helped draft Romneycare. Indeed, Bob Moffit, Heritage’s senior fellow on health care issues, can be seen in the picture of the bill-signing ceremony, standing proudly behind Romney.)

But Gingrich did more than support Romneycare. As former senator Rick Santorum has pointed out, Gingrich supported a FEDERAL individual mandate to purchase health insurance from 1993 until five minutes ago — i.e., at least until a “Meet the Press” appearance just last May.

Asked by Maria Bartiromo in the CNBC debate last November to explain what he would do to fix health care, Newt attacked the question as “absurd” and said he would need a “several-hour period” to answer it.

In a world where words have meaning, Mitt Romney is not the “moderate” in this race. He is the most conservative candidate still standing, with the possible exception of Rick Santorum, who is bad on illegal immigration. (Santorum voted in the Senate against even the voluntary use of E-Verify by employers, which means he doesn’t want to do anything about illegal immigration at all.)

Romney is “moderate” only in demeanor — which is just another word game. His positions are more conservative than Gingrich’s, but he doesn’t scare people like Gingrich does. Ronald Reagan and Jesse Helms were moderate in demeanor, too. No one would call them political moderates.

Romney is the most electable candidate not only because it will be nearly impossible for the media to demonize this self-made Mormon square, devoted to his wife and church, but precisely because he is the most conservative candidate.

Conservatism is an electable quality. Hotheaded arrogance is neither conservative nor attractive to voters.

You seem to miss the point, that no one wants any of the candidates that are being offered by the Republican Party, thus the odds of beating Obama are about the same if it is Newt or Romney. This has nothing to do with Romeney being a Mormon, and his actions and words do not align with their teachings (kind of like calling yourself Catholic, while supporting abortion rights and same sex unions). This is anoter election that conservatives are being given a why do we even bother to vote candidate, that is how we got Obama as most people I heard commented their vote was a vote for Palin and not McCain or they were voting for McCain because the altrnative was worse though not seen as much of a difference.

It is disappointing to see how you have decided on supporting an unsupportable individual that has already stated he will not make the stands this nation requires to survive, and if he is going to allow the unconstitutional health care bill stand, along with his other democrat similar stances. Romney is also an unelectable candidate. So what we have two front runners that should be viewed as unelectable, with a republican party leadership that once again has refused to put forth a candidate worth voting for. The only thing on their side is that the Democrat Party also has no one worth voting for, but they do have a greater amount of sheeple that will blindly vote the party line no matter how bad and corruput the individuals they are voting for are. Obama is a classic example of a terrible candidate that should have been impeached for his contempt of office and law of the land, without even a remote chance of being considered a candidate let alone being electable. The liberal base and media continue to sweep his anatics under the carpet and make claims about how good he is and that the problems are never his fault but always due to others. So the worst president in history, with a track record that should destroy anyone from any party, has a very good chance of winning because the Republican leadership has nothing to offer but unwanted candidates and props up one that for all intents is not much diffeent than Obama as he continues to promote big goverment and sees no problem with his role in goverment take over of healt care and peoples lives.

This is why many conservatives stay home rather than vote, since they will see Romeny or Newt as a why bother, knowing they will not do what needs to be done to save our nation from itself and those in Washington DC that are all about themselves at the expense of the nation and We The People. We need term limits and a major house cleaning of almost every official in Washington DC, they are the problem and both Mitt and Newt are also part of the problem and not the answer. We can not even get a decent person to be the party whip in either house, both have been selling this nation down the drain and avoiding their oath of office and their duty to act and make stands that should have been made many times over. Even now with unconstiutional appointments that violate the seperation of powers are being ignored rather than action being taken to correct the wrong. I fail to see the Republican party taking any real and honest action with the exception of a few individuals, the rest such as John Bohner have proven themseleves as unwilling to do their jobs and unwilling to step asisde and let someone that is man enough and ethical enough to do the job they refuse to do. There is no excuse for the 2 month tax ruling rather than making the Senate responsible for their unethical actions and behavior. But then the Republican party seems to adopted a motto “NO COMPROMISE TO BIG OR BAD” approach.

So consider that Romeney is just as unelectable and unwanted as Newt, and Romney has a lot of baggage that has not been played out by the media or Democrat party yet. Some of the ads are already prepped and ready to go against Romney and even before they are played he is already a too small of a following to be lected by his own party.

You’ve been getting your inside info on Mormons from a cracked source. Very few Mormons ever practiced polygamy and it was not the reason they were attacked. And real Mormons haven’t practiced it since Civil War days despite what Big Love and any other sources you seem to have found say.

Quite the opposite is true. Mormons don’t hate blacks. They were actually run out of Missouri etc. largely because of their strict abolitionism. While it is true that some Mormon leaders during the Civil War spoke in agreement with southern baptists about the curse of cain, but that is not Mormon doctrine at all.

I have no prejudice against other religions or Christian cults; my understanding of them and their beliefs are not preconceived, but have come about through study and understanding.

I guess those “evangelicals” are just going to have to miss out on being little gods of their own universes and cannot claim brotherhood with Lucifer as Jesus does in Mormon theology. What a shame, it would be so nice to be ones own god and have Lucifer as a big brother — oh well.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Because a few notorious presidential philanderes exist, you think “they’re all like that.” I bet you couldn’t even name every American president, in order.

Nobody in history every suggested that Washington was a philanderer. Ditto for John Adams, James Madison, Monroe, J.Q. Adams, James K. Polk, Lincoln, Grant, Garfield, T. R. Roosevelt, Wilson, Cooledge, Hoover, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bushs 41 & 43, or Obama.

The long history of loving letters between John and Abagail Adams are treasures of American history and literature.

Not only that, but if you made your silly claim to Andrew Jackson, he’d have challenged to you a duel, or slapped you in the face for impertinence. Once he married Rachel, he was faithful to her for the rest of HIS life, even though she died between the time he was elected but before he was inaugurated.

Harry Truman tolerated NO philanderers in his inner circle. The minute he heard of a close advisor screwing around on his wife, he fired the man on the spot. He always said, “If the man’s wife can’t trust him, how can I?” He treated his beloved Bess with the same respect.

As for Jefferson, you are aware, aren’t you, that he was a very young widower who never remarried, and that the most recent scholarship and DNA study casts doubt on the popular schoolgirl story about his fathering Sally Hemmings’ children.

The worst presidential philanderers in history have all been Democrats, and their political and policy legacies are worse than their marital sins: FDR, JFK, LBJ, and Clinton.

And probably the worst president in history was apparently a homosexual–and a Democrat, naturally: James Buchanan.

And another thing…I do like Romney as well as Newt, but it says something that every everyone uses the last name of one and the first name of the other. As well, Romney is so polished, the finish is starting to fade.

Newt did not single-handedly contract with America nor was the “contract” the major reason so many republicans were elected. It had everything to do with America’s opposition to Clinton and his health care, etc.

Newt also tries to take credit for the “balanced budget” (along with Clinton), but that is even further from the truth. He tried as hard as he could to spend the money, but the internet boom just brought too much in that we took in more than we spent. It was not at all about restraint, and even less about Newt.

Newt also claimed to be a Barry Goldwater republican, yet he was a campaign chair for Rockafeller…. Barry’s opponent.

Newt says he got Reagan elected, developed supply-side economics, defeated communism, and created the internet boom… And we thought Al Gore was full of it…

There are many religions that treat women as good as or better than the Mormon relgion, and they are not the only large worldwide organization that have wormen doing great things around the world. I did not have to be Mormon to have my marriage last longer than yours has, and my parents have another 25 years more than I do of a one spouse marriage. So these are not unique to Mormons, just as I also know Mormons that have divorced, come out of the closet, smoke, drink and violated their own teachings as well. It does not matter what religious group you choose, there is the good and the bad.

The problem continues to be an attempt to make this about religion, rather than about the individual and their track record. If one wants to make it about religion, then the largest group standing against Mitt Romney should be the Mormons, as he is a very poor representative of the teachings of the religion he claims to be part of. Most people see him like others running for office who claim to be part of a religion, media will make it an issue but most see them as empty rhetoric as they act and vote conrary to the religious teachings of the churches they claim to align with.

We have far too many individuals that vote on a one item agenda, such as Catholics voting for Kennedy, Mormons voting for Romeny, Blacks voting for Obama, Women voting for Palin, or any other group this nation has been divided into from the melting pot that made it great. Spending many hours researching votes and issues so I can make informed choices, makes it hard to watch others vote a party line or special interest group with no big picture or honest research into the individals themselves. That is why this nation is in such a bad situation as it is currently, because informed voters are so few and far between. People willing to ignore the dark side of a candidate, just becasue they are part of a special interest group, be it race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, party affiliation, union or any other organizational membeship.

Please move on from the media driven propaganda that this is about the candidates religion, I assure you it is not and it does have eveything to do with the existing history that is being only partly brought out thus far. It does not matter what your faith is, if you support the government mandated health plan, you will not have the support of the majority of the people; and that is only one of a number of issues that has kept Romney polling at a lack luster leverl and allowing another unwanted candidate (Newt) to pull ahead because he is willing to at least say he will make a stand (if that can be trusted is also why Newt is unwanted as well). What yoou are seeing is a race to see who is the least trusted and liked, not a race for a candidate that the people actually want and will get behind. And this has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with political stances that have been selling out the conservatives of the nation and leading this nation on a path to self destruction.

It is because of individuals such as Mitt, Newt, Bohner, McConnel, McCain, Pelosi, Boxer, Obama, Bush, and many others; that prevents me from being able to register to or provide funding/support to any party. If I contribute it will be on an individual basis, and it will not be for candidates that I think should not be running, even if I am forced to vote for them as a lesser of evils as was case when McCain ran and seems as if it will be the case once again in this election. The only thing Newt and Mitt provide is a greater opportunity for Obama to be relected due to voter apathy caused by a party that has turned against its own base.

The problem is that it has nothing to do with Mitt Romenys claimed faith (actions have gone against teachings as with most political figures who claim to be part of a faith but do not follow its teachings).

Romeny is a big government person, he has not problem with governement run health care (one of numerous examples), these types of issues are what are destroying this nation. Creating entitlemets that we can not afford and are in violation of the Constitution do not seem to be problem for Romney. This is why his polling numbers have always remained marginal, and why another undesireable candidate such as Newt can jump ahead of him. The media has mo problem playing religious and race cards to suit their purpose, but this is not about his claimed faith.

I am not sure what version of “Evangelical” you are using, the proper term or the modern day misuse of the term, in either case you seem to have a major issue with religions that may not see eye to eye with your teachings.

If you buy into the media propaganda that it is the so called “evangelicals” being anti-mormon, then you are one of the sheeple that will blindly follow on a pretense. I am not part of the current misused “evangelical” term, though I know many that are and almost none of them even make a foot note of Mitts fatith, but they do have a list of issues based on his track record in politics and what he has opted to stand by for his directions. Most of the ones I hear makig comments about his faith are either Mormon or democrats along with the media that wants to stir that issue.

What we have currently is no party with any candidate worth voting for, and once again an election where no matter who is elected from either party will not be good for this nation.

What did he do for the economy?

He was a caretaker of Reagan’s policies. He and GHWB raised the taxes and slowed the economy. Newt and the R’s took over and that is when the economy really took off.

My brother and I got in a fight with a baseball team at a pizza parlor.
I couldn’t believe we were one whole side of that melee. The police came and detained a bunch of the baseball players. We escaped and watched from afar..
My only strong memories of it are seeing my brother being carried out the door, me being knocked out for a second by someone hiding behind the door, and me fighting to get to him and seeing his feet and fists flailing at people like some kind of a wicked flailing machine.

Not any more. I made too many enemies there – the gang bangers. That’s why I moved to the mountains above San Bern (i.el – shitville).

I needed a safe place for my kids and wife. My wife and mother-in-law were certain I would either end up in jail or dead. I finally came to that conclusion as well; though I seriously wanted to go to the max more than once with the punks.

During that time I was doing stints in Columbia. It was hell there, and probably still is. Columbia has the highest per capita death rate on the planet and I’ve seen why first hand.
When I’d come back I was already in the ‘mood’ and ready to take on the world. When the bangers came around, I confronted them.

I put my 9mm to a kids head one time and almost pulled the trigger. That’s when I knew it I needed to get out of there.

I look back on that particular day with regret. I was about to commit murder but something within me held me back even though I had every cause.

There is no question that the poster in question, who uses dozens of monikers, is simply acting out as a 2-year-old acts out.

With respect to superficial charm, glibness and other properties associated with narcissism, those presuppose a certain level of intelligence that is a distant reach for this poster.

In terms of incapacitation, there is widespread concensus on that assessment for Sitting Bull.
