Conservative commentator, Laura Ingraham, has urged Republican presidential candidate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, to drop out of the race.
Ingraham said in a tweet, “It's time for Rick Perry to drop out of the race - he is only helping Romney by splitting the vote.”
The call for Perry to drop out now, before the South Carolina primary, is important because the vote between conservative, anti-Romney candidates is split in the state. If any one of the conservative candidates is to win, specifically Newt Gingrich, it may be necessary for at least one of the other candidates to leave the race.
According to the latest polls, Perry averages around 5 percent of the vote in South Carolina, a state that he would need to do well in if he wishes to remain viable as a candidate.
