I wonder how Johnny come lately was talking when from 2000 to 2008 the party in power spent money  the country did not have? Just another finger pointer. We are all responsible for the debt that this country has incurred over the last 30 years. It is time to work together to pay it off, that means everyone not just working people. 

I would like to see what government programs that benefit Florida the senator would cut. Lets see what these politicians would cut from there state to get the ball rolling.

I believe, that Senator Rubio has his current position because he was opposing spending.  He defeated the much free-er spender and sitting Governor of Florida – Charlie Crist.  Senator Rubio is doing what he promised he would do when he was elected.

Im not sure if your passing the blame to bush in your comment but I do remember during the bush years my state running radio advertisements for people to get on food stamps.

So the bush years did see alot of encouragement to live off your neighbor however in my case it was at the state level (Pennsylvania).

Democrats have been the majority for about 46 of the last 60 years since 1950. The Senate has been controlled by the Democrats for about 40 of those 60 years. The Democrats have controlled at least one or the other of the 2 branches over 50 of the 60 years. The Democrats have controlled both Houses since 2007 – Exactly the period of the current Economic collapse from an all time “high” in July 2007…and Bush drove it into the ditch? To answer your last question, though I disagree with you personally in practically every way so it seems, it’s still a free society founded on Christian-based principles, not a nation forcing everyone to be Christian, in spite of conversion being Christianity’s goal. So yeah, since we believe in “God-Given” rights, we believe they apply to everyone, so everyone benefits from them whether they agree or disagree with that philosophy. I may meet you on the street one day and it could turn into a nasty disagreement on bad terms, but that still wouldn’t change my opinion about what kind of rights you should have in this nation.

The constitution actually gives the federal government the duty of providing and maintaining a national military.  So when the federal government spends for that, it is its proper role.  It is not its proper role to spend on welfare programs.  If we did not have all those federal welfare programs, we would not be so worried about spending on the military.  Welfare programs should be established strictly at the state level, where citizens of the individual states can decide for themselves what they want and how much they want to spend for it, if at all.  Either way, their decision.  One size does not fit all, nor can we afford it.

Your are correct that the Federal Reserve does create money when the sell bonds. A bond sold is not a bad thing if the amount sold is the same as the amount that the GDP increases. The problem is when the amount of bonds sold far out strips the amount of GDP increase, this causes inflation and distorts the money supply. Please read a good book on how money supply works.

What I would want to do away with, are the stupid bills democrats put into place to force banks to give housing loans to those unqualified to receive them, which caused the housing crisis and led to the financial mess we are in now.  Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.

The reason this works is that the cost of compliance of regulation, expressed as a percentage of total profits, is MUCH MUCH MUCH higher for a small company than it is for a large company.

However, because small business is the engine of job growth, this is HORRIBLE for the economy as a whole, and why it is often referred to as “crony capitalism”. The rich donate to perpetrate this system, which protects their wealth against entreprenurship, which otherwise might force them to spend on R&D in order to innovate (expensive) or cut price to compete.

So, what Obamanomics does is PROTECT the 1%; even though they may be taxed a bit more on their income, their income will rise, offsetting the tax and putting more money in their pockets. Better to pay a 25% effective tax rate on $10M income than 20% on 2M income, eh?

I was reading a labor letter from 1915 yesterday. They claim not to begrudge the rich. They are few compared to the poor. They condemn the poor for not uniting (Organize) and voting themselves into prosperity.

We need to come up with a term to replace “crony capitalism.”

It’s not only insufficiently vile to adequately characterize the grand larceny of stealing taxpayers money to line the pockets of Obama’s supporters, but it’s also too obtuse a term to the average American voter.

Further, “crony capitalism” simply fails to express the moral outrage we should all feel for this series of high crimes against the American citizenry and the US constitution.

Indeed, “crony capitalism” sounds like a card drawn from the deck in playing Monopoly.

What it doesn’t sound like is a crime or the impeachable offense that it is.

More specifically, the term “crony capitalism” does not capture the magnitude of the theft, the violation of public trust, or the damage to democracy and the US Constitution.

So why do republican just sit there and allow it. Is it because they are, many of them, guilty of the same larcenous conduct, with their earmarks and and payoloa?

Are they not all part of the same Gangster Government that steals from the citizenry to give to take for themselves and their rich supporters?

The sad but undeniable truth is that our system of Government no longer works except to hold the average citizen in chains while our politician rob, rape, and molest us.

Of course, there is a reason they soft-pedal the rape and pillaging of the country as “crony capitalism.” — Namely, because they are all involved in it.

What it really is is criminal capitalism. It is time that we call it, and prosecute “crony capitalism” for what it truly is — treason, larceny and the rape and pillaging of the united States of America.

DADT could have easily been overturned by Bush so it became his policy in that he continued it for 8 years.  DRAW.
Obama only extended the tax cuts because it was a compromise in order to extend unemployment benefits during high unemployment.  Again, DRAW.  If he had extended the Bush tax cuts it would have disproportionately hurt people in the lower tax brackets.

Actually, I’ve been self employed for over 20 years and my income took a hit starting in about the middle of 2008.  I’m still recovering.  I’m not a job creator because I’m a sole proprietor.  I think the myth of small businesses getting “strangled by regulation” under Obama is just that, a myth.  Like I said, the economy was in free fall starting in 2008.  I’ve read the book The Big Short by Michael Lewis.  It’s incredible.  The financial industry really screwed us.  I think that’s where so much of our anger should be going.  The problems in our economy are way bigger than one President.  This has been building for decades.  I will be voting for Obama again in 2012 and whether people realize it or not, there are plenty others out there like me.  I think it will be a very very close race.

As for the election, remember that in ’08 Obama had a rejection of the previous administration working for him. He also had a collapsing economy (doesn’t matter who caused it). If a debt limit increase comes up the Republicans should vote against it unless there are real cuts included in the legislation. We have already been down the road of increasing the credit limit in exchange for promised cuts sometime in the future. Well, the future is here. There are two ways to reduce deficit spending. 

1. Congress can actually pass legislation making cuts to our current spending and the president can sign, or at least allow the law to go into effect without his signature.

2. Congress can fail to raise the debt limit. This will limit government spending to what comes in. The spending priorities can be set to cover Social Security, Medicare, welfare and military salaries first.  The president can do this with one of his many executive orders.

The Republicans in Congress should stand firm and explain in simple language to the American people the dangers of allowing this president to wildly spend. With election day approaching this will be a real good time for voters to see the contrast between the parties and to choose which direction our nation goes.

Thank you for writing me in regard to the National Defense
Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (NDAA).  I understand some provisions in this bill are contentious
and I appreciate the opportunity to respond. 

As you may know, every year the Senate Armed Services Committee
presents the NDAA, which authorizes appropriations for the corresponding fiscal year, to the full Senate
for consideration.  The Senate passed this year’s Defense Authorization Act on December 1, 2011, and
following a conference committee with the House, the final version of the NDAA was passed by the Senate
on December 15, 2011, by a vote 86 to 13. 

I am aware this bill contains some controversial provisions
related to terrorist detainees, and whether they should be held in military or civilian law enforcement
custody.  In particular, I am referring to Sections 1031, 1032 and 1033 of the Senate version of the
NDAA.   This legislation reiterates that in times of war the Armed Forces have the authority to detain
terrorists in the United States if they are members of Al Qaeda or a group affiliated with Al Qaeda and/or
assisted in the planning and execution of the September 11th terror attacks.   During the Senate debate
on the NDAA, Senator Mark Udall (CO) introduced an amendment which would have struck this language from
the bill. 

I voted against the Udall amendment and in favor of compromise
language which states that the President already has the authority to detain individuals associated with
Al Qaeda or other terror groups regardless of their citizenship. The Udall amendment failed by a vote
of 37 to 61, however, the compromise language passed 99 to 1 and is contained in the final NDAA which
does not change current law with regard to U.S. citizen’s rights.  To be clear, this NDAA does not change
the Posse Comitatus Act, nor does it take away an individual’s habeas corpus rights.  Additionally, the
language in the NDAA does not take away an individual’s rights to equal protection under the 14th Amendment
to the Constitution, nor does it take away one’s due process rights afforded under the 5th or 14th Amendments. 
If this bill did such a thing, I would strongly oppose it.

I believe an act of terror against the United States is an
act of war, and I believe those who commit such acts of terror should be treated as enemy combatants
not as common criminals.  When enemy combatants who wish to harm United States citizens are captured,
the rights of these detainees are restricted to basic human rights.  All detainees held by the United
States are treated with dignity and respect, despite the heinous crimes they have been accused of committing
against our nation.  I will continue to support a detention policy that protects the United States, as
well as the rights of our law abiding citizens.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you as your United
States Senator. Thank you for sharing your views with me. If I can be of any help to you with regard
to this issue or any other concerns of yours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Rubio’s recent letter to obama is dead on and believe the only people to benefit with this president is the first lady (oops, I think she prefers the title, Your Excellency), obama’s children, and a few other elect or select people.  This is exactly what happens in 3rd world countries. America, a 3rd world nation?
