The Fourth of July in DC
For the first time, the famed rooftop of the W Hotel in Washington was only open to private party guests to view the Fourth of July fireworks. Guests drank red-themed cocktails and took turns standing under the air condition vents on the hot and humid D.C. evening.

The Honey Brothers band – whose drummer is actor Adrien Grenier who plays Vincent Chase on HBO’s “Entourage” – played original songs. Grenier didn’t seem to notice that all the girls in the room (including me) were huddled on his side of the stage to watch him play with his drum sticks and take swigs of Red Stripe beer. At one point, he held up a paper packet and said, “Look, pop rocks for the Fourth of July!” He then ripped open the pop rocks and downed them in one swallow.
When the Fourth of July fireworks went off over the National Mall, guests on the W rooftop stood three-deep along the balcony to watch the explosion of lights over the White House and Washington Monument.

Real Housewives of DC Salahi
On the Fourth of July, Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.” cast member Michaele Salahi was a block away from the White House, where she infamously “crashed” President Obama’s first state dinner.
Wearing a patriotic red dress, Michaele cheerfully posed for pictures with other guests at the W Hotel. The effervescent Micahele made a point of remembering the name of each guest she met at the party. Meanwhile, her husband Tareq Salahi talked about their upcoming realty TV show and book projects.

Asked if he will also be on the Real Housewives show, Tareq confirms he is a “contract cast member" and believed to be the “only husband signed to a contract."
Also, Tareq says the couple is working on two upcoming books. He says they are cooperating with investigative reporter Diane Dimond who “is writing a book about everything that happened” when the couple went to the White House state dinner. Asked if he is allowed to talk about the security breach while the grand jury is still investigating, Tareq said “we have nothing to hide and the whole truth will come out now.”
A representative for the W Hotel said the Salahis paid for their tickets to the private party. The couple came in a limousine, but was not accompanied by TV cameras. The newest version of the popular “Real Housewives” reality show will premiere on August 5 at 9p.m. on Bravo TV.
Al & Tipper Not Attending Chelsea Clinton's Wedding
Former Vice President Al Gore and his estranged wife Tipper Gore will not be attending Chelsea Clinton’s wedding on July 31.
Gore, who served under President Bill Clinton, had previously said he was looking forward to Chelsea’s marriage to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky. But now, after announcing his separation wife Tipper after 40 years of marriage and being accused of sexual assault by massage therapist by Molly Hagerty, Gore decided not to attend.
Gore family spokesperson Kalee Kreider would not comment on whether the Gores decided not to attend the wedding because of their personal problems. She confirmed to HUMAN EVENTS that “they are not attending” and all other “information on the guest list we are referring folks to the Clintons.”
Asked if the Gores were still sending Chelsea a wedding gift, Kreider said “we have no comment.”
Meanwhile, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton spent the Fourth of July weekend on a swing through Eastern Europe, but the distance did not affect her ability to plan her only child’s wedding. "Luckily we have email now. I can communicate and people can send me pictures of flower arrangements or other kinds of decisions," Clinton said in an interview with Poland's TVP.
Despite her demanding international travel schedule, Clinton says she’s "been able to fit in tastings and dress selections and all the other things the mother of the bride has to do".
Brokering peace and bilateral relations comes second now in Hillary Clinton’s priorities. She says Chelsea’s wedding "truly is the most important thing in my life right now."
