Pence to Talk About Kagan to NRA

As questions are being raised about Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan’s stance on the 2nd Amendment, Rep. Mike Pence (R.-Ind.) will address the issue on Friday when he gives a speech at the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual meeting in Charlotte, N.C.

“The last thing we need on the Supreme Court…is one more jurist who is not sympathetic to the individual, constitutional rights of the American people,” Pence told HUMAN EVENTS in an interview, previewing his remarks to the NRA.

Pence said it’s necessary to offer a better vision going forward, so while his speech will touch on the opportunities and challenges of 2010 and efforts to oppose to government spending, he also plans to articulate a vision for conservative governance in foreign and domestic policy.

This will be the first time Pence has addressed the NRA national convention, though he said he’s attended NRA events back in Indiana.

Pence said he has done some hunting over the years, and that he enjoys shooting clay targets.

“According to my 18-year-old son, I’m a pretty good shot,” Pence said.
