Dems Townhall Temper Tantrums

Democrats continue to display their contempt for American voters at their town hall meetings nationwide.  The most recent petulant display is brought to you by Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.) who completely lost it when a man asked a question about health care during the open Q & A segment of Scott’s town hall meeting.

Scott blew his cool, accusing the man of hijacking the meeting, saying this was only for his constituents.  He haughtily chastised the man for showing up at the open meeting and asking him a health care question in the open Q & A segment instead of making an appointment with him to talk about health care in private — as if that made any sense whatsoever.  As it turns out, the man asking about health care is Dr. Brian Hill, one of Scott’s constituents.  According to the news reports, Dr. Hill isn’t even a Republican.

Check out the local news report of the town hall meeting, complete with an interview of Dr. Hill.  Could Democrats possibly be more out of touch with their constituents?  You decide.

A scenario where Democrats could do more harm to themselves and their government-run health care legislation is hard to imagine.  The beauty of their meltdown is that they appear completely oblivious to their self-inflicted wounds.  Their government takeover of health care scheme is so unpopular that they’re reduced to ad hominem attacks on the majority of Americans who oppose socialized medicine, calling them “un-American.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said as much in a joint op-ed in today’s USA Today.

In it, they write, “…it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue…These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American.”

No one should be prevented from speaking out freely.  If only Pelosi and Hoyer took that approach to House floor debates, Republicans might actually be able to offer amendments to bills like Obamacare and get recorded votes on them.

Constituents attending these town hall meetings are mostly seniors — the ones who would get end of life counseling instead of treatment in a few years under the Democrat health care plan.  The House Democrat bills cut half-a-trillion dollars from Medicare and the President himself has been on television recommending that seniors forego life-saving but expensive surgery.  The President tells seniors just to take a pain pill instead, which actually means go home and die in a drug-induced stupor.  You no longer have value to society.

And Democrats tell us not to believe our lying eyes when we have seen these things for ourselves.

It’s very upsetting to folks when you throw their parents and grandparents under the bus.  Anger is a natural reaction to plans to deny health care to your family based purely on age.  Unlike the Democrats voting for it, the people are actually reading the 1,017 page bill.  Folks can see for themselves what’s in the Democrat plan.  They can see the rationing boards and the “comparative effectiveness” structure used by government bureaucrats to deny services to those whose lives they deem no longer worth the cost of their medical treatment.  It’s all in there.  Folks aren’t buying the party line that Democrats are shilling, and they object.  They boo!  They are calling B.S. on these snake oil salesmen.

In response, Democrats have the chutzpah to call these veterans, seniors, moms, dads, grandparents and their children, “un-American” when they won’t just take a pain pill for the team.

The problem with the current Democrat leadership is they couldn’t spot anything American at a Veterans’ Day parade.

Democrats Solicit Town Hall Rent-a-Mob Jobs on Craig’s List

Unlike opponents to the government takeover of health care who show up at Congressional town hall meetings out of deep concern over attempts to destroy the American health care system, Democrats have had to resort to hiring people to go to town hall meetings in support of their scheme.

Pelosi and others in the Democrat Party have accused those in opposition to socialized medicine of being paid hacks or “Astroturf” meaning there is no real grassroots movement behind the opposition.  As is being reported this morning on HUMAN EVENTS’ sister site, RedState.com, there are hundreds if not thousands of job listings on the left-leaning Craig’s list ranging from $11-16 an hour to a flat $325-500 per week to “Astroturf” the meetings.  Once again, projection is the greater part of the Democrat Party.  They accuse opponents of doing what they’re actually doing — paying people to show up at the town hall meetings to support their health care scheme — counting on their willing accomplices in the “mainstream” media to once again cover up the truth.

Tsongas Tries to Explain Vote to Exempt Congress from Health Care Bill

In an overflow town hall meeting conducted by Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-Mass), she unsuccessfully tries to explain away the vote to exempt members of Congress from the health care fiasco they are trying to foist on the rest of America.  If the health care scheme is so terrific, why won’t your Congressmen and Senators sign up?  As Tsongas shows here, there is simply no answer.  The question and attempt at an answer are four minutes into this Tsongas town hall video.
