Correction: Rep. Marshall’s Views on Iraq

Yesterday's Evans-Novak Political Report passed on a misleading characterization of a November column by Rep. Jim Marshall (D-Ga.) that is being circulated this week by his opponents. Marshall had written that even though in principle he supported congressional investigations into the Administration over the Iraq War, they should be deferred for now because they "would have the inevitable effect of eroding public support" for the war's prosecution. Marshall was the only Democrat at the time to vote against a Pelosi resolution calling for stepped-up Iraq investigations, and he was defending his vote in that column. We regret the error.

This does not affect our rating of the race, which remains Leaning Democratic Retention.
