We Weren’t Surprised About Osborne

I notice a few words here about yesterday's primary elections. True, much of Capitol Hill was caught by surprise when Rep. Tom Osborne lost the GOP gubernatorial primary in Nebraska last night to popular, conservative incumbent Gov. Dave Heineman.

But people who read their Evans-Novak Political Report saw it coming - hell, they could have made some good money on that race. We called it correctly, against the common wisdom and the late polls, in our May 3 edition.

In fact, we had actually warned months ago that Osborne should not be considered the front-runner just because he is the most popular man in the state.

All in all, we went four-for-four last night, calling it also for state Sen. Adrian Smith (R) to replace Osborne in the third district.
