Bolivia is continuing its attack on foreign energy companies. At a news conference today, the Bolivian Energy Minister declared that Bolivia (with the assistance of Venezuelan investigators) will audit foreign energy companies so that their assets can be seized if they refuse Bolivian President Evo Morales' arbitrary demand to begin handing over most of their profits to the Bolivian government.

After issuing this threat to loot Bolivia's biggest foreign investors, it was amusing to read this: "Bolivian officials said the briefing was intended to reassure foreign multinationals here."
