Today, Ithaca College's campus paper "The Ithacan" ran an excellent editorial advocating more intellectual diversity at a campus "known nationally for its liberalism."
While liberals, such as this year's guests Bill Moyers, Bill Bradley, and Al Franken visit campus often, there are few conservative speakers except those that student activists bring. This is not to mention the superfluous scholarship that occurs and guest speakers who appear.
Ithaca, and similar colleges nationwide, do a disservice to students when they fail to bring prominent speakers with differing views, offer diverse coursework, and promote an atmosphere where students feel comfortable learning about a variety of viewpoints and deciding for themselves their own view.
